Llŷn AONB - Dynodiadau eraill

As well as being designated as an AONB parts of Llŷn have been designated for nature conservation and as an historic landscape of outstanding interest. For more information regarding these designations please see below:

Special Area of Conservation (SAC)

There are 2 SAC’s within the AONB – Pen Llŷn a’r Sarnau (Marine SAC) and Llŷn Peninsula Cliffs.

Registered by CADW, ICOMOS and Natural Resources Wales

Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIS)

A significant number of SSSI’s have been designated on the Llŷn Peninsula by Natural Resources Wales.

Llŷn Heritage Coast

A local designation which mostly covers the same section of coastline as the AONB

National Nature Reserve

Ynys Enlli (Bardsey Island), a wildlife habitat of national importance

Special Protection Areas

European and international designation aimed at protecting birds and their habitats. 2 areas, Aberdaron Shores and Ynys Enlli and Mynydd Cilan, Trwyn y Wylfa and Ynysoedd Sant Tudwal (St Tudwal’s Islands)
