Special Area of Conservation (SAC)
There are 2 SAC’s within the AONB – Pen Llŷn a’r Sarnau (Marine SAC) and Llŷn Peninsula Cliffs.

Registered by CADW, ICOMOS and Natural Resources Wales
Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIS)
A significant number of SSSI’s have been designated on the Llŷn Peninsula by Natural Resources Wales.
Llŷn Heritage Coast
A local designation which mostly covers the same section of coastline as the AONB
National Nature Reserve
Ynys Enlli (Bardsey Island), a wildlife habitat of national importance
Special Protection Areas
European and international designation aimed at protecting birds and their habitats. 2 areas, Aberdaron Shores and Ynys Enlli and Mynydd Cilan, Trwyn y Wylfa and Ynysoedd Sant Tudwal (St Tudwal’s Islands)
